Programs

  • Defense Programs
    The U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile is maintained through NNSA’s Office of Defense Programs, which keeps the U.S. nuclear weapons safe, secure and reliable in the absence of underground nuclear testing.
  • Nuclear Nonproliferation
    The Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation works in over 100 countries to keep nuclear and radiological material out of the hands of terrorists and to reduce the threat of weapons of mass destruction proliferation.
  • Naval Reactors
    Through the Naval Reactors program, NNSA provides the U.S. Navy with the reliable and safe nuclear power necessary to propel 40 percent of the Navy’s combat fleet.
  • Emergency Operations
    NNSA’s Office of Emergency Response is the U.S. government’s primary capability for responding to radiological and nuclear incidents.
  • Infrastructure and Environment
    NNSA’s Infrastructure and Environment programs work on restoring, rebuilding and revitalizing NNSA's physical infrastructure, as well as keeping the environment in and around its sites safe and clean.
  • Nuclear Security
    The mission of the Defense Nuclear Security program provides protection for NNSA’s personnel, facilities, nuclear weapons, and information from threats of terrorism, theft and sabotage.
  • Management and Administration
    Human capital and financial management are the main functions of NNSA’s Office of Management and Administration.
  • Office of the Administrator
    The Office of the Administrator provides the federal personnel and resources necessary to plan, manage and oversee the operations of NNSA at headquarters and around the country.
