Lieutenant Colonel Andamo E. Ford
Deputy District Commander for HSDRRS
Lieutenant Colonel Andamo E. Ford was assigned as Deputy District Commander for the Hurricane Storm Damage Risk Reduction System; (HSDRRS) on 15 January 2007. His responsibilities include executing a comprehensive and integrated flood control program, ecosystem restoration, and hurricane and storm damage reduction system for southern Louisiana. The major focus is the planning and construction of the Katrina-Damaged Hurricane and flood protection structures.
Lieutenant Colonel Ford earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Alabama A&M University, Huntsville, Alabama in 1989 and is a Distinguished Military Graduate.
His other military and civilian education includes the Engineer Officers Basic and Advanced Courses, the Environmental Compliance Officers Course, Air Movement Operations Course, Combined Arms Services Staff School, Command and General Staff College, the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School where he attained qualifications in civil military operations, psychological operations, African Studies, and French language. Lieutenant Colonel Ford has also completed several other Army and management level courses and a full series of Emergency Management training by FEMA and the Federal Emergency Management Institute.
Lieutenant Colonel Ford’s most recent military assignments include Chief of Operations, C7 (Engineer), Multi-National Corps-Iraq, Baghdad, Iraq from October 2005 to September 2006, Operation Iraqi Freedom; Director of Public Work, U.S. Army Garrison, Schinnen, The Netherlands, from July 2003 to December 2006; and U.S. Army Engineer Liaison Officer, France & the French Engineer School, Angers (On-Jaaay), France from June 2000 to July 2003.
Other key command and staff assignments include Operations Officer and Tactical Support Team Commander, D/96th Civil Affairs Battalion (Airborne), Ft. Bragg, North Carolina; Chief, Civil Military Operations Officer, Task Force Hawk, Tirana, Albania; Assistant Operations Officer, Commander - Headquarters Support Company & Battalion Maintenance Officer, 84th Engineer Combat Battalion (HEAVY), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; Adjutant, 30th Engineer Battalion, (Topographic) (Army)/20th Engineer Brigade (Airborne), Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Executive Officer, HHC, 30th Engineer Battalion (T) (A) and Platoon Leader, 362nd Combat Support Equipment Company, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; and Operations Desert Shield and Storm in Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
His military awards and decorations include two Bronze Star Medals, three Meritorious Service Medals, an Army Commendation Medal, three Army Achievement Medals, Global War of Terrorism Support Medal, NATO Medal, Humanitarian Service Ribbon, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, four Overseas Service Ribbons, two Joint Meritorious Unit Awards, one Meritorious Unit Commendation and three Army Superior Unit Awards among many others. He is the recipient of the Bronze Order of the de Fleury Medal. He has also earned both the U.S. and French Armies Parachutist Badges. He is also a member of the Society of American Military Engineers.
Lieutenant Colonel Ford is married and has five children.
