Moving Image Collections: A Window to the World's Moving Images

MIC Project Manager

Jane D. Johnson is Library of Congress MIC Project Manager. She has been actively involved with MIC since 1998, when she was appointed to the Cataloging Task Force of AMIA's Committee on U.S. National Moving Image Preservation Plans (COUSNMIPP).

Before coming to the Library of Congress, Jane was a cataloging librarian at the UCLA Film and Television Archive for 17 years. Prior to that she held positions in art museum and public libraries, and was a cataloger on the Optical Disk Pilot Program in the Library of Congress’ Prints and Photographs Division. She has been active in ALA, OLAC, and PCC, and has served the Association of Moving Image Archivists in several capacities, including two terms as chair of the AMIA Cataloging Committee. Currently she serves on the AMIA Board of Directors.

Jane now works for the Library of Congress from New Jersey, where she is Visiting Scholar at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, working with MIC architect Grace Agnew and others to coordinate MIC development within the context of the New Jersey Digital Library.

She holds an MLS in library and information science from UCLA and a BFA in studio ceramics. In her off hours Jane trains for herding competitions with her smooth collies.
