Andrew Beck
Director of Public Affairs
Andrew Beck is the Director of the Office of Public Affairs at the U.S. Department of Energy where he oversees strategic communication of the President’s aggressive energy policies and initiatives. Mr. Beck manages all of the internal and external communications for the Department, which has a $23-plus billion budget and over 100,000 federal and contractor employees.
Prior to joining the Department, Mr. Beck served as Deputy Associate Administrator for Public Affairs at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). In this role, he oversaw the Agency’s press, public outreach, Web and speechwriting operations as the senior communications advisor to the EPA Administrator.
Mr. Beck also worked on the 55th Presidential Inaugural Committee; on President Bush’s 2004 re-election campaign as the Communications Director for the State of Pennsylvania; and as the Communications Director for the United States Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
Before joining the Bush Administration, Mr. Beck worked for several trade associations including the National Automobile Dealers Association and the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America.
Mr. Beck is a graduate of the University of the South (Sewanee) in Tennessee where he received a Bachelors of Science degree in natural resources and political science. He lives with his wife and two children in Ashburn, Virginia.
