Colonel Gregory A.D. Boyle, USMC

Colonel Boyle received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Anselm’s College in Manchester, New Hampshire where he majored in History (1981). He also earned Masters Degrees in General Administration from Central Michigan University (1994), Military Science from the Marine Corps Command and Staff College (1997), and National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College (2003).

His USMC military education includes graduating with honors or distinction from the Basic School, (1982), Amphibious Warfare School, (1989), and Command and Staff College (1997). His joint education includes the Armed Forces Staff College, Norfolk, VA. (1998). His naval education includes graduating from the U.S. Naval War College (2003) and serving as a Chief of Naval Operations Fellow with the Strategic Studies Group in Newport, R.I. (2004).

Colonel Boyle’s command tours include: Rifle and 81mm Mortar Platoon Commander with Company E, 2d Battalion, 3d Marines (1982-1984) in Hawaii; Headquarters Company, 3d Marines (1984-1985); Platoon Commander, Officer Candidates School, Quantico, Virginia (1986-1988); Company D, 1st Battalion, 4th Marines (1989-1991), Camp Pendleton, California; 1st Force Reconnaissance Company, Camp Pendleton, California (2000-2002); 3d Marine Regiment, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii (2005-2007); Wounded Warrior Regiment, Quantico, Virginia (2007-present).

His principal staff assignments include: S-4 Officer, Upshur Training Detachment, Officer Candidates School, Quantico, VA., (1986/1987); Inspector-Instructor Operations Officer, 25th Marines, Worcester, MA., (1991-1993); Ground/Special Operations Officer, Marine Forces Pacific G-3, Camp Smith, HI., (1993-1996); Deputy Director, J8 Program Planning and Assessment, U.S. Atlantic Command, Norfolk, VA., (1997-1999); and Operations Officer, Special Operations Training Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force G-7, Camp Pendleton, CA., (1999-2000); Officer-in-Charge, MARCENT Coordination Element, Kuwait (2004); Officer-in-Charge, MARCENT Coordination Element, Afghanistan (2005).

Colonel Boyle’s personal decorations include: Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with Gold Star, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two Gold Stars, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
