Treatment & Prevention: Influenza Antiviral Drugs

Note: On December 19, 2008, CDC issued Interim Recommendations for the Use of Influenza Antivirals for the 2008-09 Season.

Although yearly vaccination with the flu vaccine is the best way to prevent the flu, antiviral drugs can be effective for prevention and treatment of the flu. The resources below explain which antiviral drugs are approved for seasonal flu and will help you understand when you might need to take them.
