About Software Engineering & System Assurance

SSA Mission

Establish a world class DoD center of excellence for software engineering and system assurance in collaboration with industry, national partnerships, international/global alliances, university consortia, and DoD-wide partnerships.

SSA Objectives

• Support acquisition success by ensuring effective and efficient software solutions across the acquisition spectrum of systems, systems of systems (SoS), and capability portfolios
• Improve the state-of-the-practice of software engineering and systems assurance within Dod by advocating and leading software initiatives to improve the practice through the transition of tools, techniques, etc.
• Provide leadership outreach and advocacy by implementing, at the Department and national levels, a strategic plan for meeting Defense software requirements
• Foster software resources to meet DoD needs by enabling the US and global capability necessary to meet Defense software needs in an assured and responsive manner
