Range Management Program

Drawing of Cowboy on Horseback

The range management program for the Alturas Field Office encompasses grazing management on 155 allotments with 106 permittees.  Within the last few years, the field office has embarked on completing Rangeland Health Standards and Guidelines Assessments.  Since 1999 the Alturas Field Office has completed Rangeland Health Assessments on all 44 high priority management allotments.  The range program continues to conduct rangeland health assessments on lower management priority allotments as resource issues are identified and scheduling allows.
