Enclosed is the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Action Plan, Lessons Learned from the Columbia Space Shuttle Accident and Davis-Besse Reactor Pressure-Vessel Head Corrosion Event. This Plan fulfills Commitment 17 in the Department’s Implementation Plan for Recommendation 2004-1.  The Plan was developed with input from applicable DOE Program Secretarial Offices and several field organizations.  The Office of Corporate Performance Assurance is responsible for coordinating the Department’s implementation of this Plan and keeping me appraised of implementation progress.
