Neutron and X-Ray Scattering

The Neutron and X-Ray Scattering Group pursues scientific research that is integrated with the multidisciplinary science of the Materials Science Division and exploits the capabilities of large-scale scattering facilities, such as the Intense Pulsed Neutron Source and the Advanced Photon Source. Current research areas include exotic superconductors, complex oxides with important transport, magnetic, or dielectric properties, orbital correlations in strongly correlated electron systems, and magnetic behavior in constrained geometries. We are also developing new instrumentation for the Spallation Neutron Source and support the scientific programs and instrument development of the Intense Pulsed Neutron Source.
