This was a carry-over from our previous web page, but due to recent heightened security, if you are a foreign national visitor, as it turns out, you WILL be needing one of these to visit us!

Visitor Information

Getting here isn't too difficult as there are many routes to and from the Rock Island District. It is important to remember that the Mississippi River flows east to west at this point, not north to south. This change in river flow can set you off course when navigating around the Quad Cities.

We are directly west of Chicago in the middle of the Mississippi River on an island known as Rock Island Arsenal or Arsenal Island. Although located in the middle of the Mississippi between the states of Illinois and Iowa, our formal address is Rock Island, Illinois.

SECURITY CHECK
The Visitor Center AND Clock Tower are located on the East end of Arsenal Island in Rock Island, Illinois. Visitors must enter through the Moline security gate and inform the guards that your destination is the Locks and Dam 15 Visitor Center OR the Clock Tower Building. Visitors 16 years of age and older are required to have photo identification and all vehicles are subject to search by Arsenal security. Visitors to the Lock and Dam 15 Visitor Center can proceed past the Bridge Closed Ahead sign and park in the Visitor Center parking lot.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Media representatives MUST contact the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contact(s) noted at the top of any News Releases to arrange for entrance to, and escort within, the Arsenal. Media representatives must enter through the Moline Gate, provide photo identification, and be prepared for random vehicle searches by Arsenal security.
