Town Bluff Project is located midway between the towns of Jasper and Woodville on US HWY 190 in East Texas.  The project is approximately 60 miles north of Beaumont and 120 miles northwest of Houston.  The project office is located near the west end of the dam on FM 92, 4 miles south of it's intersection with US HWY 190. 

The upper reaches of B. A. Steinhagen Lake are approximately 20 river miles down the Angelina River from the Sam Rayburn Dam.
