Corps to Conduct Public Listening Sessions at Nimrod Lake

PLAINVIEW, Ark., Aug. 29 -- The Nimrod-Blue Mountain Project Office of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will conduct a public listening session at 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 20 at the group picnic shelter in Carter Cove Park on Nimrod Lake.

The session is to inform the public of accomplishments at Nimrod Lake during the past year and gather input and ideas from the public for upcoming years. Public involvement is an important part of the Corps’ desire to include stakeholders in its resource management decision-making process.

Hoover Willard, operations project manager for Nimrod and Blue Mountain lakes, will open the session by reviewing the Corps’ mission at Nimrod Lake and by reviewing upcoming plans for management of the lake.

Other natural resources and recreation personnel from the project office will also be on hand. Input and ideas for the lake from the public will be welcomed and received at the session. All ideas and input will be reviewed and considered. A similar public listening session will be conducted at Blue Mountain Lake in the spring.
