GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  THIS MARADMIN ANNOUNCES THE FY09 WARRANT OFFICER
ACCESSION BONUS PROGRAM.  MARINES IN THE PRIMARY MILITARY SPECIALTY
(MOS) OF 2336 MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR A $60,000 BONUS IF APPOINTED AS
AN EOD OFFICER (MOS 2305) IN FY09.
2.  EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY MARINES WHO ARE APPOINTED TO WARRANT
OFFICER (MOS 2305) VIA THE FY09 WARRANT OFFICER BOARD ARE ELIGIBLE
FOR A $60,000 BONUS IF THE MARINE MEETS THE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
BELOW:
    A.  MUST BE APPOINTED AS AN EOD OFFICER (MOS 2305) DURING FY09.
    B.  MUST AGREE TO A 48 MONTH PERIOD OF OBLIGATED SERVICE FROM
DATE OF APPOINTMENT.
    C.  MUST GRADUATE THE WARRANT OFFICER BASIC COURSE.
3.  THE BONUS AGREEMENT WILL BE COMPLETED SIMILARLY TO A STATEMENT
OF UNDERSTANDING PER MCO 7220.24M AND A COPY WILL BE MAINTAINED IN
THE OFFICER QUALIFICATION RECORD.  SUBMIT THE ORIGINAL AGREEMENT TO
CMC (MMSB-20) PER PARAGRAPH 4003.4 OF THE IRAM.
4.  BONUS AGREEMENT TO BE INCLUDED ON NAVMC FORM 763:  "I, [RANK,
LAST NAME, FI, MI, L4-SSN] UNDERSTAND THAT, INCIDENT TO MY
APPOINTMENT AS A WARRANT OFFICER, AND DESIGNATION AS AN
EXPLOSIVE ORDNANCE DISPOSAL (EOD) OFFICER (MOS 2305), I AGREE TO
ACCEPT THIS BONUS IN A LUMP SUM PAYMENT OF $60,000 IN RETURN FOR MY
OBLIGATED SERVICE OF 48 MONTHS FROM THE DATE OF MY APPOINTMENT.  I
UNDERSTAND THIS BONUS IS NOT PAYABLE UNTIL I SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE
THE WARRANT OFFICER BASIC COURSE (WOBC).  I UNDERSTAND THAT I MUST
SERVE IN THE CAPACITY OF AN EOD OFFICER (MOS 2305). FAILURE TO
COMPLETE THE SERVICE REQUIREMENT DESCRIBED ABOVE MAY RESULT IN THE
TERMINATION OF THIS AGREEMENT AND MY REPAYMENT OF THE BONUS.  I
FURTHER UNDERSTAND THAT REPAYMENT WILL NOT BE SOUGHT IF MY
INABILITY TO COMPLETE THIS SERVICE OBLIGATION IS DUE TO MY DEATH,
ILLNESS, INJURY, OR OTHER PHYSICAL IMPAIRMENT WHICH WAS NOT THE
RESULT OF MY MISCONDUCT, OR WAS THE RESULT OF SOME OTHER
CIRCUMSTANCE DETERMINED REASONABLY BEYOND MY CONTROL."
5.  PAYMENT OF THIS BONUS IS IN ADDITION TO ALL OTHER PAY AND
ALLOWANCES.
    A.  SELECTIVE REENLISTMENT BONUS (SRB).  MARINES THAT RECEIVED
AN SRB WILL NOT BE REQUIRED TO REPAY THE BONUS IF SELECTED.
    B.  CRITICAL SKILLS RETENTION BONUS (CSRB).  MARINES ASSIGNED TO
MARINE SPECIAL FORCES COMMAND (MARSOC) IN RECEIPT OF A CSRB WILL BE
REQUIRED TO REPAY ANY UNEARNED PORTION OF THE BONUS PER THEIR CSRB
AGREEMENT.
6.  FO/DO PAYMENT PROCEDURES.  SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION WILL
ACOMPANY THE NAVMC 11116 IN DTMS.  THE SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION MUST
INCLUDE JUSTIFICATION THAT MEETS THE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA SET FORTH
IN THIS MESSAGE.  PROCESS A MISC CREDIT IF THE WARRANT OFFICER MEETS
THE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA.  THIS BONUS IS ELIGIBLE FOR THRIFT SAVINGS
PLAN REDISTRIBUTION.
7.  TERMINATION:  THE AGREEMENT WILL TERMINATE WHEN THE
FOLLOWING OCCURS:
    A.  COMPLETION OF THE AGREED UPON PERIOD.
    B.  SERVICE-INITIATED, OR OTHER, NO FAULT-OF-THE-MARINE,
CURTAILMENT OF TOUR.
    C.  RELIEF OR REASSIGNMENT FROM THE DESIGNATED 2305 MOS.
8.  RETIREMENT ALSO TERMINATES THE AGREEMENT; HOWEVER, PERIODS OF
OBLIGATED SERVICE UNFULFILLED WILL RESULT IN REPAYMENT OF BONUS FOR
THE REMAINING PERIOD OF REQUIRED OBLIGATED SERVICE.  THIS RECOUPMENT
SHALL NOT BE WAIVED.  THE PRORATED RECOUPMENT AMOUNT IS BASED ON
$41.67 PER DAY OF SERVICE UNFULFILLED.
9.  THIS MESSAGE IS NOT APPLICABLE TO THE MARINE CORPS RESERVE.
10.  RELEASE AUTHORIZED BY MR. M. F. APPLEGATE, DIRECTOR, MANPOWER
PLANS AND POLICY DIVISION.//
