  RMKS/1.  PURPOSE.  TO ESTABLISH STANDARD ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURES
  REGARDING THE MILITARY HEALTH CARE SYSTEM (TRICARE) WITHIN THE
  MARINE CORPS.  GUIDANCE FOR ENTRY LEVEL PERSONNEL WILL BE PROVIDED
  VIA SEPARATE MARADMIN.  A MARINE CORPS ORDER PROMULGATING THESE
  PROCEDURES WILL BE PUBLISHED BY CMC (MRH).
  2.  BACKGROUND.  THE MARINE COMMUNITY HAS FREQUENTLY REPORTED
  DIFFICULTIES USING TRICARE.  TO ALLEVIATE SOME OF THESE DIFFICULTIES,
  THE FOLLOWING WILL BECOME EFFECTIVE UPON PUBLICATION OF THIS
  MARADMIN.
  A.  REPORTING UNIT COMMANDERS WILL ENSURE THAT:
  (1) TRICARE SERVICE CENTERS (TSC) ARE INCLUDED IN THE CHECK IN AND
  CHECK OUT PROCESS TO VERIFY ENROLLMENT STATUS (PRIME, STANDARD, OR
  EXTRA) AND TO ASSURE AN ADEQUATE LEVEL OF UNDERSTANDING OF THE    
      BENEFITS ASSOCIATED WITH ENROLLED OPTION.
  (2) MARINES TRANSFERRING TO AN INDEPENDENT DUTY STATION (RECRUITING,
  INSPECTOR/INSTRUCTOR STAFF, AND MARINE SECURITY GUARD) RECEIVE
  ADEQUATE INFORMATION FROM THE TSC REGARDING THE HEALTH CARE AVAILABLE
  (E.G., TRICARE PRIME OR TRICARE PRIME REMOTE) AT THEIR NEW DUTY
  STATION.
  (3) TRICARE INFORMATION IS PROVIDED TO MARINES AND THEIR FAMILIES AT
  PRE-DEPLOYMENT BRIEFS.
  (4) THE STATEMENT: "IF EMERGENCY CARE IS NEEDED, GET CARE
  IMMEDIATELY, THEN CONTACT 1-800/888- (THE RESPECTIVE PHONE NUMBER
  FOR THE REGION IN WHICH THE MEMBER IS ENROLLED, REFER TO PARAGRAPH
  3) IS TYPED ON OR ATTACHED TO LEAVE PAPERS.
  (5) TAD (AWAY FROM PERMDUSTA) ORDERS AND PCS ORDERS INCLUDE THE
  FOLLOWING STATEMENT: "IF ACUTE, NON-EMERGENCY MEDICAL CARE IS
  REQUIRED FOR YOU OR YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS, CALL 1-800/888- (THE
  RESPECTIVE PHONE NUMBER FOR THE REGION IN WHICH THE MEMBER IS
  ENROLLED, REFER TO PARAGRAPH 3) TO OBTAIN GUIDANCE AND TO RECEIVE
  THE REQUIRED AUTHORIZATION.  IF EMERGENCY CARE IS NEEDED, GET CARE    
      IMMEDIATELY, THEN CONTACT THE NUMBER LISTED ABOVE ONCE CARE IS
  RECEIVED."
  (6) MARINES WHO ACQUIRE NEW FAMILY MEMBERS (E.G., SPOUSE, CHILD, AND
  ANY OTHER LEGAL "DEPENDENTS") REPORT TO THE INSTALLATION DEERS/
  RAPIDS SITE AND LOCAL TSC FOR ENROLLMENT PURPOSES.
  (7) DURING ADMINISTRATIVE AUDITS AND THE PRE-DEPLOYMENT/CHECK-OUT
  PROCESS, THAT THE INFORMATION PROVIDED IN DEERS IS ACCURATE AND UP-TO
  -DATE REGARDING MEDICAL AND DENTAL ELIGIBILITY FOR THEIR LEGAL
  "DEPENDENTS".
  (8) MARINES WITH SPECIAL NEEDS FAMILY MEMBERS ARE ENROLLED IN THE
  MARINE CORPS EFMP PER REF A IN ORDER TO ENSURE APPROPRIATE MEDICAL
  CARE IS AVAILABLE.
  B.  CMC (MM) WILL ENSURE THAT ALL HUMANITARIAN TRANSFERS BASED ON
  MEDICAL CARE FOR FAMILY MEMBERS ARE PROPERLY SCREENED IN ACCORDANCE
  WITH THE AVAILABILITY OF TRICARE SERVICES.
  C.  MARINE CORPS RECRUITING COMMAND WILL ENSURE THAT:
  (1) TRICARE PRIME REMOTE IS INCLUDED IN APPLICABLE COURSE CURRICULA
  (E.G. RECRUITING SCHOOL).  CMC (MRH) WILL ASSIST IN COORDINATION.
  (2) ALL MARINES AND SAILORS PERMANENTLY ASSIGNED TO YOUR COMMAND ARE    
      PROVIDED INFORMATION REGARDING TRICARE, SPECIFICALLY TRICARE PRIME
  REMOTE, FOR THE GEOGRAPHICAL AREA IN WHICH THEY ARE ASSIGNED.
  D.  COMMANDER, MARINE FORCES RESERVE WILL ENSURE THAT ALL ACTIVE
  COMPONENT, ACTIVE RESERVE, AND RESERVE ON ACTIVE DUTY MARINES AND
  SAILORS PERMANENTLY ASSIGNED TO YOUR COMMAND ARE PROVIDED
  INFORMATION REGARDING TRICARE, SPECIFICALLY TRICARE PRIME REMOTE,
  FOR THE GEOGRAPHICAL AREA IN WHICH THEY ARE ASSIGNED.  CMC (MRH)
  WILL ASSIST IN COORDINATION.
  3.  TRICARE REGIONAL DIRECTORY.
