Physical Requirements Information:

Wildland firefighting is a very arduous job. Therefore, firefighters are expected to be in good physical condition at the start of the season. Everyone assigned to fire supression duties is required to pass a "Field Pack Test" with an arduous rating. The Field Pack Test is a 3-mile walk carrying a 45-lb. pack. The 3-mile walk must be completed in 45 minutes or less.

Once firefighters are assigned to their duty station, they will be expected to participate in daily physical training. This is to help maintain cardiovascular fitness and build upper and lower body strength.
