USDA Donates Computers to Local Schools

Little Rock, Ark., May 10, 2005 – The USDA in Arkansas is donating more than 40 computers to schools in Little Rock and Pine Bluff on May 11.

Schools in Little Rock receiving the computers are Arkansas Baptist College, the Little Rock School District Alternative School and Adult Education Center, and Philander Smith College. Donations are also being made to Dollarway Junior High in Pine Bluff and the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

“The donations are part of a USDA effort to distribute 10,000 used computers to school systems nationwide, said Kalven L. Trice, state conservationist. “When we upgrade our systems, we are able to give the used computers to educational institutions.”

USDA in Arkansas has already donated more than 250 computers to Lee Senior High School, Marianna; Nemo Vista Public Schools, Center Ridge; Mansfield Public School, Mansfield; Central High School, Little Rock; Sulphur Rock Public School, Sulphur Rock; Kirby School District, Kirby; Salem Public School, Salem; Nashville Christian Academy, Nashville; Bergman Elementary School, Bergman; and Liberty Christian School, Searcy.
