Nancy-Amelia Collins was born and educated in upstate New York but longed to see the world.

As soon as she finished her studies, Nancy took off to travel through Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. Her love of adventure, politics, and people led her to her passion for journalism.

Nancy has covered many major news stories and conflicts in Latin America including Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Ecuador, Peru, and the Amazon; and in many countries throughout Asia including the Philippines, Indonesia, Burma, Thailand, Cambodia, India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.

In February 2005 Nancy moved to Jakarta, Indonesia where she now heads the Jakarta News Bureau.
