Faststats

The State Faststats site provides quick access to statistics on topics of public health importance.  Links are provided to publications that include the statistics presented, to sources of more data, and to related web pages.

Chronic disease state profiles

Select a state to access information such as fact sheets, funding, legislation, reports, state-based programs and projects, statistics, and data.

  • State Cancer Burden
    The State Cancer Burden Data fact sheets contain data on lung cancer, colorectal cancer, breast cancer, and prostate cancer. They include the estimated number of new cancer cases and cancer deaths, and the age-adjusted mortality rates for cancer deaths by race for each state. The fact sheets were updated in June 2004.

Child Health: Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Program (EHDI)

The State Profile includes information about all aspects of the EHDI process, such as program structure, screening and referral procedures, tracking and surveillance systems, and educational materials. A key objective of this resource is to assist states in program planning and evaluation, and to inform parents, other government agencies, and providers about EHDI programs across the United States and its territories.

Disability and Health State Chartbook – 2006 Profiles of Health for Adults with Disabilities

This Chartbook is the first in a series to present information about the health of people with disabilities by state and territory. It has three purposes: 1) to show that a large percentage of adults have a disability, 2) to show that the health of people with disabilities is not as good as that of the people without disabilities, and 3) to highlight areas in which public health systems can include more people with disabilities in their programs.

Infectious Diseases - NCHHSTP State Profiles

The NCHHSTP State Profiles include statistical and other information on HIV/AIDS, STD and TB by all 50 states and Washington, District of Columbia, as of 10/23/06. They also include examples of program initiatives supported by CDC and state public health officials.

National Immunization Survey (NIS)

The NIS is a large, on-going survey of immunization coverage among U.S. pre-school children (19 - 35 months old).

Profiling the Leading Causes of Death in the United States: Heart Disease, Stroke, and Cancer

State and Territorial Dental Public Health Programs

The Synopses contain information useful in tracking progress toward Healthy People 2010 oral health objectives in states, U.S.-associated jurisdictions, and the nation.
