Publication dates - Several separate Children's Bureau funding announcements will be published this year, rather than one consolidated announcement. They will probably not all be released at the same time.
Publication sites - The 2008 Children's Bureau discretionary grant announcements will be published in Grants.gov, and on the ACF Grant Opportunity page.
Federal Register - Again this year, the Children's Bureau funding announcements will NOT be published in the Federal Register.
Grants.gov - Grants.gov is the single location for all Federal grant program information. A short synopsis of each funding announcement is posted here as soon as it is released for publication. You can visit www.grants.gov now to look around and get familiar with how it works. In Grants.gov, the Children's Bureau's funding announcements are listed under the Funding Activity Category Social Services and Income Security (sometimes listed as Income Security and Social Services), and under the Agency Category Department of Health and Human Services. Grants.gov provides customer support via e-mail and telephone.
Notification of publication - Visiting Grants.gov and the ACF grants opportunity page daily is the fastest and surest means to access publication information .The Grants.gov web site has options for requesting automated notification. In Grants.gov you can select categories of funding announcements, and ask to be notified when these announcements are published.
Getting an application - After the announcements are published, download and print the announcement and required forms. The announcement will include all the information you need to complete and submit your application.
DUNS# (Data Universal Numbering System number) - Your organization must have a DUNS # in order to submit an application. You can apply for a DUNS # now by calling Dun & Bradstreet at 1-866-705-5711 or by visiting the DUNS website and selecting "Get a D& B DUNS Number".
Printed copies - Printed copies of the 2008 announcements will not be routinely sent out as was done in past years. Print copies of the 2008 announcements will only be sent to those who request them by calling the ACYF Operations Center at 1-866-796-1591.
Applying online - This is an option that was implemented 4 years ago. Online application is voluntary, but strongly encouraged. Electronic applications will be accepted only through Grants.gov. Detailed instructions for applying on-line are posted on grants.gov. On-line applicants must first download a free software program and register with the Central Contractor Register, a Credential Provider and Grants.gov.
