Author Bryan Collier speaks at the 2006 National Book Festival.
Speaker Biography: Bryan Collier, who began creating artwork in his signature style at the age of 15, has illustrated numerous award-winning children's books. He is the recipient of two Coretta Scott King Illustrator Awards, for "Uptown" and "Rosa," as well as Coretta Scott King Honors for "Freedom River," "Martin's Big Words: The Life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr." and "Visiting Langston." "Martin's Big Words" and "Rosa" were also Caldecott Honor Books. Collier lives in New York City, where he directs mural programs for children.
