Listen to Donkey

From the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, I'm Ira Dreyfuss with HHS HealthBeat.

(PSA bed) (1 second)

Donkey is a busy burro. And the star in the "Shrek" movies is getting six- to nine-year-olds to be active, too. He's in broadcast spots, outdoor and Web ads created by GSD&M, DreamWorks Animation and the Ad Council for HHS, to combat soaring childhood obesity. The PSAs feature the Shrek characters and remind us of the importance of play.

Donkey wants kids to burn calories:

"Get on up! C'mon! Get out the door! Let's shake that booty like never before!" (4 seconds)

The goal, as Shrek tells it – before a Frisbee bounces off his head:

"Get up and play, an hour a day – Ouch!" (3 seconds)

You can find playtime ideas at healthierus.gov. But, as Donkey points out:

"Just don't stay long!" (1 second)

"Kid what's up with you? Let's get up and play!" (2 seconds)
