NASA Headquarters Alternate Dispute Resolution Program

The NASA Headquarters Equal Opportunity and Diversity Management Division Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Program is designed to facilitate the resolution of workplace disputes. The objective is to provide a convenient, easily accessible, fair and equitable means of resolving these disputes at the lowest possible level.

Our ADR Program is designed in accordance with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s (EEOC) revised regulations at 29 C.F.R. Section 1614.102 (b)(2) and adheres to the Core ADR Principles specified by EEOC in Management Directive 110; fairness (to include, neutrality, confidentiality, and enforceability), flexibility, training, and evaluation.

While there are many types of ADR, NASA Headquarters’ chosen method of ADR is mediation. Participation in ADR is voluntary for both parties. ADR does not replace the informal complaint resolution process formal dispute resolution processes, but offers employees an additional opportunity to resolve workplace issues. The ADR mediation conferences are conducted by trained mediators.
