PORTLAND, Ore. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking comments on an application for a permit to conduct work in waters of the United States. The public notice regarding this permit application was issued during the week of Nov. 23, 2008.

Public Notice NWP-2001-325 describes a proposal by the City of Oregon City, Ore., to dredge about 9,000 cubic yards of material from the Clackamas River and mouth of Clackamette Cove in order to provide year-round access to the cove.

The Corps is soliciting comments on this proposal from the public; federal, state and local agencies; Indian Tribes; and other interested parties. The public notice which provides more information is available at http://www.nwp.usace.army.mil/op/g/public.asp. Comments must be received by Dec. 26.

The Corps issues or denies permits under authority of Section 404 of the Clean Water Act for discharge of dredged or fill material into U.S. waters, and/or Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 for work in or affecting navigable waters of the United States.
