PORTLAND, Ore. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking comments on an application for a permit to conduct work in waters of the United States. The public notice regarding this permit application was issued during the week of Nov. 23, 2008.
Public Notice NWP-2005-587 describes modifications to a previous proposal by the Oregon Department of Transportation to replace the bridge that carries U.S. Highway 101 over Millport Slough near Kernville, Ore.
The Corps is soliciting comments on these modifications from the public; federal, state and local agencies; Indian Tribes; and other interested parties. The public notice which provides more information is available at http://www.nwp.usace.army.mil/op/g/public.asp. Comments must be received by Dec. 11.
The Corps issues or denies permits under authority of Section 404 of the Clean Water Act for discharge of dredged or fill material into U.S. waters, and/or Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 for work in or affecting navigable waters of the United States.
