PORTLAND, Ore. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is reviewing an application for a Department of the Army permit to conduct work in waters of the United States. The public notice regarding this permit application was issued during the week of Jan. 6, 2008.
Public Notice NWP-1995-291/4, requested by LTM Inc. The proposed project is located on the Seals and McWilliams gravel bars along the South Fork of the Coquille River near Myrtle Point, Ore.
The applicant proposes to remove 5,000 cubic yards of gravel annually from the two bars.
Comments on this proposal must be received by Feb. 9.
The Corps is soliciting comments on this proposal from the public; federal, state and local agencies; Indian Tribes; and other interested parties. The public notice which provides more information is available at http://www.nwp.usace.army.mil/op/g/public.asp.
The Corps issues or denies permits under authority of Section 404 of the Clean Water Act for discharge of dredged or fill material into U.S. waters, and Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 for work in or affecting navigable waters of the United States.
