Portland, Ore. – The access road between the entrance to Bonneville Lock and Dam and one of its visitor centers will be restricted June 4, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced. The road used to reach the Bradford Island Visitor Center and the Bradford Island fishing area at Bonneville Lock and Dam will be reduced to one lane from 7 a.m. to noon Monday for scheduled repairs at Powerhouse 1.
During this time, busses, recreation vehicles, motor homes and large trucks will not be allowed to travel to Bradford Island. Alternate visitor opportunities for guests with large vehicles are available at the Washington Shore Visitor Center, which will be open as usual from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This visitor center offers exhibits and a fish viewing window where visitors can watch salmon, steelhead, shad and lamprey travel upstream through the fish ladders.
The Robins Island and Tanner Creek fishing areas in Oregon (open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.), and the North Shore and Hamilton Island fishing areas in Washington (open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.) will operate under their normal schedules on June 4.
Bonneville Lock and Dam is located 40 miles east of Portland. From Portland, follow Interstate 84 to exit 40 to reach Bradford Island Visitor Center, or follow Washington State Route 14 to mile post 40 to visit the Washington Shore Visitor Complex.
