Corps of Engineers holding public meeting for Rogue reservoirs

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host a public information meeting to discuss Rogue River water management for Lost Creek and Applegate reservoirs.

The meeting will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, May 24 at the Red Lion Hotel, 200 North Riverside Ave., in Medford, Ore. Corps project managers will discuss anticipated lake levels and water release needs for the summer and fall seasons.

Both Applegate and Lost Creek reservoirs are now full. With half the normal snowpack levels in the mountains, questions remain about how long the reservoirs will stay full as the Corps balances the competing needs of flood damage reduction, fisheries, irrigation, municipal water supply, water quality and recreation throughout the year. Planned releases have been coordinated through the State of Oregon, including the Oregon Department of Water Resources and Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.
