PORTLAND, Ore. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is reviewing three applications requesting a Department of the Army permit for certain work in waters of the United States. The public notices regarding the permit applications listed here were issued during the week of Oct. 9, 2006.
Public Notice 200600762. The project is located in wetlands adjacent to Sutherlin Creek in Sutherlin, Ore. The applicant proposes to fill 1.03 acres of wetlands to construct an 18-lot residential subdivision. Comments must be received by Nov. 5, 2006. Public Notice 200600761, requested by M & S Development. The project is located at the western terminus of Inverness Drive near Lone Pine Road and Papago Drive in Medford, Ore. The applicant proposes to relocate a portion of Lone Pine Creek, place culverts in the creek and a nearby unnamed drainage and fill 0.48 acre of adjacent wetlands in order to develop residential housing.

Public Notice 200600760, requested by Coos County Airport District. Project is located at the Southwest Regional Airport in Coos Bay and adjacent wetlands in North Bend, Ore. The proposed project would relocate an existing taxiway about 75 feet to the south in order to improve safety on the runway parallel to the taxiway and would require filling about 2.62 acres of wetland. Comments must be received by Nov. 11, 2006. A copy of the public notice may be found at https://www.nwp.usace.army.mil/op/g/public.asp.
The Corps of Engineers is soliciting comments from the public, federal, state and local agencies, Indian Tribes and other interested parties on these permit requests.
The Corps of Engineers will issue or deny any permit under authority of Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, for discharge of dredged or fill material into U.S. waters, and/or under Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 for work in or affecting navigable waters of the United States.
If the applicants have submitted a mitigation plan with the permit request, it will be considered. If a permit is issued, the Corps will decide on the appropriate and practicable compensatory mitigation for each proposed project.
