Corps’ recreation areas closing for the season soon

PORTLAND, Ore. – Several recreation areas managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will soon close for the season, the agency announced today.

In the Rogue Basin, the McGregor Park Visitor Center at Lost Creek Lake will close Tuesday, Sept. 5.

In the Willamette Valley, at Cottage Grove Lake, the primitive campground will close Monday, Sept. 4; Lakeside, Shortridge, Wilson Creek and Riverside day-use parks will close Sept. 10; and Pine Meadows Campground will close Sept. 11. At Dorena Lake, Bake-Stewart Park will close Sept. 10 and Schwarz Campground will close Sept. 25. At Fern Ridge Lake, Kirk Park will close Oct. 15.

On the Columbia River, Plymouth Beach day-use area, Paradise recreation area and Irrigon 1st Street recreation area will close Sept. 12.

Most of these recreation areas are scheduled to reopen next year in mid-May. All other Corps-operated day-use areas are open year-round.
