Corps reviews permit application for Jackson County, Ore.

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is reviewing a permit application requesting a Department of the Army permit for certain work in waters of the United States.

Public Notice 200600257, requested by Phoenix Sierra Corp. The project is located in the city of Eagle Point, in Jackson County, Ore. The project is at the end of South Buchanan Avenue and Sarah Lane. The proposed action would relocate a 420 linear foot portion of Buchanan Ditch to construct a residential housing subdivision. The site development for the subdivision would also include the construction of two culverts in the relocated channel of Buchanan Ditch. Proposed mitigation would include riparian plantings along the relocated portion of the ditch. Comments must be received by July 13, 2006.

The Corps of Engineers is soliciting comments from the public, federal, state and local agencies, Indian Tribes and other interested parties on these permit requests. The Corps will issue or deny any permit under authority of Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, for discharge of dredged or fill material into U.S. waters, and/or under Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 for work in or affecting navigable waters of the United States.
