Portland, Ore.— The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is evaluating a permit application from the Port of Portland seeking a five-year dredging permit needed to maintain its Terminal 6 berths on N. Marine Drive on the Columbia River.
As part of its permit evaluation process, the Corps is requesting public review and comment on the proposed project prior to making its determination on whether to issue or deny a permit for the work.
The port estimates removing via clamshell dredge about 2,000 cubic yards of material from berth 601 and 23,000 cubic yards from berths 603-607 the first year. Maintenance dredging would be performed each year on an as-needed basis. The material removed would be disposed of at a rehandling facility to be located on Port of Portland property east of Terminal 6 on Suttle Road.
