Portland, Ore. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is evaluating an application to fill wetlands to expand an existing wood waste facility near Aumsville, Marion County, Ore. As part of its permit evaluation process, the Corps is requesting public comments on the proposed project prior to making its determination on whether to issue or deny a permit for the work.
The work would consist of filling about an acre of wetland to allow for storage and growth of the facility. The site is located east of Aumsville Highway and north of Olney Street in section 25 near Aumsville.
The Corps will consider whether the proposed project meets standards of the Clean Water and Endangered Species acts and will look at the overall impact of the project on the affected area. A permit will not be issued until consultations required under the Endangered Species Act have been completed.
