About Cost, Pricing & Finance

Mission

To enable the Department to achieve acquisition excellence in support of the war fighter by developing and implementing cost, price, and finance policies that provide for fair and reasonable contract prices, cost reimbursement, and contract financing.

Background

On October 1, 2006, the Office of Cost, Pricing & Finance was reestablished within the Office of the Director, Defense Procurement. The office is tasked with pursuing a number of initiatives in the area of cost, pricing and finance, including:

  • Reinvigorating the cost and pricing skills within DoD;
  • Ensuring efficiency in the structuring of payment provisions;
  • Ensuring the appropriate use of award/incentive fees;
  • Ensuring the appropriate use EPA indices and clauses used in fixed-price contracts;
  • Providing expert advice to the DFARS committees and FAR teams on regulations affecting cost and pricing policies;
  • Participating in CAS Board efforts to improve existing Cost Accounting Standards.
