Medical Research Facilities and Laboratories
Over $650 million of medical research facilities, funded from FY07 thru FY11, started design with the MX supporting the geographical Project Delivery Teams. This includes the Army's main Center for Health Promotion and Preventive Medicine (CHPPM) and the DoD's largest (if not the nation's largest) and most complex medical research facility, the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID), that is being designed as the keystone for the new National Interagency Biodefense Campus (NIB) at Fort Detrick. An additional Stage II for USAMRIID is in the planning stages, and will start its funding in the FY11 program.
