The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) cares for more than 270 million acres of public lands.  In Arizona the numbers exceed 12 million.  Many of these lands are open to exploration and we invite you to consider these lands your largest classroom.

Here, you can visit the home of the prehistoric Puebloan (Anasazi) and Southern Paiute cultures . . . . see more than 500 different rockart designs along the cliffs and borders of the Little Black Mountain Petroglyph Site . . . . visit the Aubrey Peak Wilderness Area to see imposing land forms carved by water and wind. . . . . embark on rock hounding expeditions outside of Lake Havasu City . . . . get close-up views of the ever-changing Hassayampa River as you watch the many animals that drink its waters . . . . spot a blue-gray gnatcatcher while in the Gila Box area, or listen to one of the 100 species of songbirds along Bonita Creek.

You can watch wildlife thrive along 40 miles of the upper San Pedro River in the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area.  Sign up for an interpretative tour of Betty's Kitchen Watchable Wildlife and Interpretive Area and receive a teacher's classroom guide which describes the desert environment.
