Chairman Martin: Wilmington, Is Your TV Ready For Digital? I'm Chairman Kevin Martin of the Federal Communications Commission. The Wilmington area is pioneering the nation's transition to all-digital broadcasting. On September 8, TV stations serving Pender, Brunswick, Bladen, New Hanover, and Columbus counties will stop broadcasting in analog and broadcast only in digital. Your TV needs to be ready so you can keep watching.

If your TV has a digital tuner, or is connected to a paid service like cable or satellite, this change shouldn't affect you.

But, if you have an analog TV with rabbit ears or rooftop antenna, you need to act. You can buy a TV with a digital tuner,… subscribe to a paid service, … or buy a converter box that plugs into your analog TV. The government offers you up to two 40-dollar coupons towards the cost of converter boxes.
