of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDS) Pacific Pupil Personnel
Services (PPS) provides student support services
to promote student
development and enhance learning. The Pupil Personnel Services
Team is comprised of school counselors, school psychologists and
school nurses. Program services address student learning
in three broad interrelated areas of development: academic, career,
and personal-social.
The PPS Team offers a comprehensive program of counseling, psychological,
and health services to help students in developing strategies to
deal with educational, personal, and social development. Under
the authority of DS 2946.1, DoDDS Pacific implemented the Competency
Based Counseling Program (CBCP). The CBCP is the framework
for student services and the PPS Team. It was developed in accordance
with the National
Standards for School Counseling Programs and provides a comprehensive
model for the delivery. Direction of the program is provided
through student competencies, and program components provide for
direct and indirect advocacy services that are program-based and
student-centered.
Elementary School
In the elementary school, CBCP assists students by mastering skills
and developing attitudes to become successful students. Emphasis

High School

School Counseling Services
School counseling services are provisioned for through the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Regulation 2946.1 and a comprehensive counseling program exists in all Pre K12 schools. DoDDS Pacific School counselors are staffed at a ratio of 200:1 at the high school; 300:1 at the middle school, and 350:1 at the elementary school. All students have equal opportunity to access counseling and guidance services. DoDDS Pacific School counselors are affiliated with the American School Counselors Association (ASCA).
School Psychological Services
DoDEA Regulation 2946.3 establishes policies and provides for a range of support services to ensure a comprehensive school psychological services program. Services are research-based and offer effective school and home programs to help address educational and psychological problems and promote optimal learning. DoDDS Pacific School Psychologists are affiliated with the National Association of School Psychologists.
School Health Services
DoDDS Pacific Student Health Services offer programs to ensure that students emotional and physical health care needs are addressed. School nurses work closely with parents, the PPS Team, counselors, and psychologists to address student health issues. School Health Services provides for service in three areas: health education, health services, and the maintenance of a healthy school environment. The comprehensive program promotes and maintains optimum health for all students. Core services provided by school nurses include, but are not limited to: conducting health screenings, monitoring immunizations, assessing and evaluating individual health concerns, providing individualized health care for students, referring health problems for diagnosis and treatment, promoting healthy lifestyle, and serving as a resource and liaison for parents and students. The PPS Team, School Counselors, Nurses, and Psychologists work closely with families and the community to provide services that promotes optimum success, wellness and safety for all students.
