Purpose
Re-profile beach profiles that were initially established in the early 1960's
and establish new profile baselines for monitoring and quantification of
shoreline changes during the passage of extreme events on the islands of
Oahu and Maui. The profile data will also be used to quantify results of
historical shoreline changes using aerial photographs.
Summary
27 coastal sites on Oahu that were established in the summer of 1994 were
re-profiled and GPS positions were recorded. 20 new profile sites were
established on Maui and data collected included: beach profiles, offshore
fathometer profiles where accessible, GPS location of site reference marks,
and a minimum of 3 surface sediment samples per site.
