Program Description
The Truman Scholarship is a highly competitive, merit-based award
offered to U.S. citizens and U.S. nationals from Pacific Islands who wish to
go to graduate school in preparation for a career in government, the
non-profit sector or elsewhere in public service. Truman Scholars
participate in leadership development programs and have special
opportunities for internships and employment with the Federal
government.
General Program Requirements
In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must currently be
enrolled in an accredited undergraduate degree program, and be planning on
attending graduate school to further a career in public
service.

Program Contact Information
Students cannot apply directly for Truman Scholarships but must be
nominated by a Truman Scholarship Faculty Representative from their college
or university. Each institution may nominate four students. In addition,
four-year colleges and universities may nominate three transfer students
from two-year colleges. You can identify your school's Faculty
Representative through the "Faculty Representative Locator" tool on the
Truman Foundation website:

Scholarship representative, you can ask the president or a senior academic
