This podcast is presented by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. CDC – safer, healthier people.

[Dr. Bradley Perkins] And it's a great delight to introduce you, as well as all the people that are watching on IPTV and other technologies Dr. Neal Halfon. And Neal is actually—he has a bunch of formal titles. I mean, he's the director of the Center for Healthier Children, Families, and Communities at UCLA. He's also a full professor in pediatrics at the UCLA School of Medicine. He has a distinguished academic background. He was a clinical scholar at Robert Wood Johnson. He's served on numerous policy boards, written a number of significant papers.

But the thing that strikes me the most about Neal is that he really belongs here at CDC, because through his entire career, he has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to population health and particularly health equity in vulnerable populations. And it's been really exciting to see the progress he's made with his colleagues at UCLA and in California with the California Endowment on what he's going to talk about today—the Blue Sky Initiative, which has a lot of similarities and a lot of synergy with what we've been talking about a lot at CDC under the banner of Healthiest Nation or Healthiest Nation Alliance. And so it's with great delight and with great hope of future synergy and collaboration I introduce to you Dr. Halfon. Thank you very much for being here.
