Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument, New Mexico

-The Mogollon People may not have been aware how the caves they inhabited 1000 years ago were formed, but scientists from the USGS and the National Park Service have described the process on this map. "Stream action" and "spring sapping" excavated the caves which later housed the Gila Cliff Dwellings, located near Silver City in southwestern New Mexico. This poster describes in detail how these two natural erosion processes carved through layers of the canyon walls to create the caves seen today at this national monument. The poster measures 24"x31.5".
