How to Obtain Photographic Reproductions

The items in this collection are owned by the New York Historical Society.

Digital images from the online collection, Civil War Treasures from the New-York Historical Society, may be downloaded for educational use, for use in academic research and other academic projects, and for criticism and commentary.

Anyone wishing to use any of these files or images for commercial use, publication, or any purpose other than fair use as defined by law, must request and receive prior written permission from the New-York Historical Society's Department of Rights and Reproductions. Permission for such use is granted on a case by case basis at the sole discretion of the New-York Historical Society. A usage fee may be involved depending on the type and nature of the proposed use.

Photographic reproductions may be available from the New-York Historical Society. Please send requests by mail. Identify the item by its caption, the name of the Source Collection, any Call Number or Reproduction Number shown, and the Digital ID for the individual item.

If possible, provide a visual reference source too, either a printout of the bibliographic display with thumbnail image or of each image for which a reproduction is requested. Please also describe the intended use.
