description
Treasury employees have a broad range of skills that are as varied as the bureaus and missions they support. According to the Department’s Human Capital Strategic Plan, Treasury identified 44 mission-critical occupations, representing 58% of the permanent workforce. Although there are some commonalities, 38 of the 44 mission-critical occupations are unique to each bureau. However, skills and expertise in the area of information technology (IT) are major focus areas for the Department. Approximately 80% of the bureaus cite IT as key to meeting their business goals.
Treasury's IT Workforce program supports the Department's efforts and the work of the Federal CIO Council in improving the recruitment, retention and development of its IT workforce. IT and Human Resources representatives from the bureaus participate in the Department’s IT workforce program.
