Volunteer Opportunities
The Corps of Engineers at Hillsdale continually work with groups and individuals that donate their efforts and time to the lake. The Hillsdale Lake Volunteer Program includes lake cleanup projects, Interpretive Program assistance, Trail improvements, Eagle Scout projects, community service, nest box construction and installation, and various other projects.
In 2001, a new volunteer program started at Hillsdale. The Corps of Engineers developed a full service campsite near the Hillsdale Lake Visitor Center. Volunteer couples interested in providing a minimum of 24 hours a week of volunteer service with the Corps will be allowed to camp for free on the site. If you would like more information about this volunteer opportunity, contact the Hillsdale Project Office at 913-783-4366.
The Corps of Engineers encourages everyone to take pride in the Nation’s natural and cultural resources. People interested in volunteering can contact the Corps of Engineers staff through the Visitor Center or you can volunteer through the National Volunteer Clearing House.
