It is very important that you register your students as soon as possible. Staffing depends on the numbers, so every registered child assures that OAES will be able to provide the best education for your child.

The Department of Defense Dependents Schools are established to provide education for authorized children in the overseas area.

To register your newly arrived or newly eligible dependent children for school with the Korea DoDDS schools, view the Enrollment Procedures. Please remember that you must have your childs' Social Security Number when you register your child.

If you are re-registering your child in the same complex your child attended last school year, you must attend the re-registration sessions scheduled by each school.

New    2008 Change in Minimum Age Requirements:

On November 26, 2008 DoDEA Director Dr. Miles signed Policy Memorandum 08-ESPL-005: Minimum Age Requirement for Pre-Kindergarten, the Sure Start program, Kindergarten, and First Grade Dependents. This Policy Memorandum changes the minimum age requirement for enrollment from 31 October to 1 September.

Space Available Explanation:

At the time of enrollment, non-command sponsored children will be placed on a "Space Available" list. Children who attended the previous school year will have priority. The remaining available slots will be filled based on the date that the Sponsor arrived in Korea.

Therefore, it is imperative that if you bring your family in a Space Available status, you be prepared to provide for your children's education in accordance with Federal Law. The options here in Korea include home schooling (you provide the curriculum), and the International Christian School (ICS). ICS is a highly regarded private Christian Academy with a $900.00 per month tuition, plus $100 per month bus fee (both per child) if you do not provide transportation.
