Park Hosts

The Sam Rayburn Project has an ongoing need for volunteers in Corps operated campgrounds around the lake, especially just after the Labor Day Weekend through February each year, although volunteers can be utilized most any time.  Please see the Volunteer Opportunities section of this website for additional information.

C.A.S.T for Kids at Ebenezer Park on Sam Rayburn Reservoir - September 22, 2007

The C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation was formed in 1991 to join volunteers who love to fish with disabled and disadvantaged children for a day of fishing in the outdoors.  The C.A.S.T. for Kids event was designed to create an environment whereby both children and adults could benefit, each taking from the day their own lessons.  Children and adults could leave their problems on shore and share a day of fun on the water.  Volunteers are needed to assist kids with disabilities, to provide food, drinks, and entertainment of all sorts to make memories for special kids. In previous years, the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department has provided a fishing tank stocked with catfish, and numerous volunteers have provided boats to take kids riding or fishing for a short time, tractor and trailer for hay rides, "horse painting" and horse riding, face painting and numerous other activities.  Volunteers are always welcome!

National Public Lands Day is September 29, 2007

This annual event: educates Americans about critical environmental and natural resource issues and the need for shared stewardship of these valued, irreplaceable lands.  Working together, we buildspartnerships between the public sector and the local community based upon mutual interests in the enhancement and restoration of America's public lands. And we improve public lands for outdoor recreation, with volunteers assisting land managers in hands-on work.
