Summary

GAO reviewed the Department of Defense (DOD), General Services Administration (GSA), and National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) new rule on employment eligibility determination. GAO found that (1) the final rule amends the Federal Acquisition Regulation to require certain federal contractors and subcontractors to use the E-Verify system administered by the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, as a means of verifying that certain of the contractors' employees are eligible to work in the United States; and (2) with the exception of the delay in the effective date, DOD, GSA, and NASA complied with the applicable requirements in promulgating the rule.
