Soil Gases in Mineral Resource Exploration

Soil gases have been measured by Howard McCarthy along traverses in Buena Vista Valley, Pershing County, Nevada.  Hydrocarbon gas anomalies have been found, which may indicate a petroleum accumulation at depth. This data will be presented at the Symposium 2000 conference in Reno, Nevada in May, 2000 and published in the proceedings.

Additional soil gas sampling will be conducted along the Carlin Trend in central Nevada to seek evidence of faults that may have controlled the emplacement of the many gold deposits along this Trend. Previous studies have been published as a CD-ROM (OF98_338) titled: Contributions to the Gold Metallogeny of Northern Nevada.
