Environmental Stewardship: Expanding the Envelope of the BNL Environmental Management System through Voluntary Participation
Through its voluntary participation in the EPA PTrack and NPEP programs, Brookhaven National Laboratory has realized a 90% reduction in onsite PCB inventory, a 40% reduction in mercury, greater than 35 tons of CFC-11 equivalent have been removed from service, restoration of 42 acres of property to natural forest conditions, and a 34% reduction in radioactive emissions from the production of radioisotopes.
